  • nathanchase: What's your lowest globally ranked films within your current personal Top 100 on Flickchart (i.e. the films you love that are most outside the norm)? Mine include: THE MUSIC MAN (#2440), EXPLORERS (#2425), KOYAANISQATSI (#2391), FANTASIA 2000 (#1948), SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER (#1066). I know this is one set of data that both @Prophasi and I are looking forward to being able to calculate for you as your "outlier" films. The ones you just love regardless of how others seem to feel about them.

    • #1 MrKlan: The movie in my Top 100 with the lowest global rank is Wallace & Gromit in The Wrong Trousers (5818), but it's a pretty recent add and a shorter film to boot. Other than that, I've got The Rock (1730), the best movie Michael Bay's ever gonna make. - 170 days ago Reply
    • #2 MrKlan: Hey, that gets me thinking: What's the policy on short films on Flickchart? I know those W&G films are only 30 minutes, and there are several half-hour Christmas specials. What about shorter films? I'm thinking specifically of some of the great shorts that Pixar does, like For the Birds or Presto or Partly Cloudy. - 170 days ago Reply

    • #6 nathanchase in reply to 2: @MrKlan No hard & fast rule yet on short film inclusions - mainly we're going by the criteria that they be available as separate entities (i.e. purchasable on their own, not as part of a collection) and features their own unique poster art, so they can be easily ranked here on Flickchart. - 170 days ago Reply
    • #7 MrKlan in reply to 6: @nathanchase Cool. So, most of Pixar's little shorts would be excluded, primarily because they can only be purchased together in a collection, or on the DVDs with Pixar's movies. Makes sense. - 170 days ago Reply

Just type as much as you want, and then hit Enter. It'll post the whole thing as one big block, and on Twitter there will just be an ellipsis and link back here. - 170 days ago Reply

    • #15 thenickmartucci: My 10 lowest: CITY LIGHTS (#2135), BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (#2222), RACHEL GETTING MARRIED (#2323), IN THE LOOP (#2792), SON OF RAMBOW (#2901), AN EDUCATION (#3392), WORLD'S GREATEST DAD (#3673) BLACK SHEEP (2007 version) (#3725), BIG FAN (#4327), 2 DAYS (#9955)...I'm actually surprised to see some of these so low. Especially City Lights and Bride of Frankenstein. Most of these are very good movies with no guilty pleasures (except Black Sheep). 2 Days just needs to be seen by more people. It's a fantastic movie, but only been ranked by 9 people (and I'm proud to have it rated highest in the group). - 170 days ago Reply

    • #24 MrKlan in reply to 23: @HungryTyger A Perfect Murder has the distinction of being the only film I ever saw in a theater by myself. The theater experience really is no fun, I found, if you go alone. - 168 days ago Reply
    • #25 yojimbo28 in reply to 24: @MrKlan Interesting, I've seen a ton of films in the theater alone, probably as many as I've seen with others....In college, I used to leave campus and catch movies all the time by myself...I don't know, to me, I'm there to see the film, not to talk with anyone about it...I really see it as no different than watching a movie at home with no one around - 168 days ago Reply
    • #26 MrKlan in reply to 25: @yojimbo28 Yeah, you know, I watch most of my movies by myself (when I watch TV with my wife, it's usually TV shows, with the odd movie now and then), but for some reason, I just remember it not being as fun going to A Perfect Murder by myself. (Of course, that was back in high school when I usually went to the theater with friends.) Who knows, maybe it actually had something to do with the movie itself...? Regardless, I'm not a big theater-goer anymore at all. I've seen exactly three films in the theater since 2004. All three, I saw with a friend. (And no, you're right; we didn't exactly discuss the movie much while it was showing.) - 167 days ago Reply
